One from the archives: Unknown Jam at Peteʻs

Not sure when this was taken, but it seems to be in Pete's old house (his first Hunnewell place). Note that Kapono's "drum kit" is made up of a Taiko drum, a conga, and whatever else happened to be in the room at the time! Pete busted out the keyboard for this one...

Aloha e Kelli me Sergio

We are very sorry to say that our recording session thiis past weekend was canceled due to an unbelievable tragedy.

Our awesome, beautiful, and totally amazing engineer, Kelli Heath, lost her very well-known and loved boyfriend, writer/photographer Sergio Goes, in a diving accident near Waikiki on Friday.

We did not get to meet Sergio, but aparently he was a talented, healthy young man and an excellent diver; it seems that no one really knows what happened. We can only pray for Kelli, Sergio and their families and hope the best for the healing of all. Please keep our beautiful sista and her love in your thoughts and prayers as well. Mahalo!

Recording Session May 31-June 1

Yay! We're FINALLY in the studio!!
In this session, we laid down the bass and drum tracks at "the Docta's Office" (Trey Terada's studio in Kane'ohe) for almost all the songs, and got some studio experience while we were at it.

Pete & Dobbs sounded great, & our engineer, Kelli Heath (of Da Girlas -- check them out!), is da bomb! She was an awesome "pilot", keeping the whole thing on track, troubleshooting calmly at good speed, and providing very low-key recommendations when needed.

So the next step is the guitars. Stay tuned. We'll be getting them down in mid-July!

Ku & Hina

Part of Kahuli (Ikaika, Pete & Laulani) played for the Ku and Hina art extravaganza brought forth at "First Friday" by Uncle 'Imaikalani Kalahele and other great Maoli artists. Was good fun, and awesome to see many great warriors of the ages to come out to enjoy Maoli art and music.

Laying Scratch Tracks

Sunday: we've been laying some basic "scratch" templates in prep for recording the drums, bass & percussion.

Kapono also asked Marion some serious questions...
